Op vs. Megs Two pack

Postby jimsloth » Fri Jan 12, 2007 8:06 pm

Just picked up the deluxe sized Classics Op. vs. Meg.s set, and I must say two things, 1. Optimus looks like he has down syndrome, 2. Megatron is AMAZING. I have to say, this is actually the first G1 spark Meg I've ever bought. By that I mean I have many BW Megs (different character completely) and RID, which if you ask me is kind of a red haring and shouldn't really count. Thats it. I've skipped many a Megatron because they dissapointed for one reason or a dozen. This guy though... I love it.

I could do without the spin action. I would prefer to have two elbows. Hell, I'm considering bashing him a G1 fusion cannon barrel, but really, the other 95% of it I don't even want to repaint! Looks so sweet next to Deluxe Unicron/Bludgeon too.

Optimus on the other hand... Bastards. Why don't his thighs telescope? Why are his eyes so big and so close together. Where did the brim of his helmut go? Who decided it was a good idea to make him spin around like the Red Tornado from Superfriends. How the hell am I supposed to add a matrix chamber to that? Why are the faction symbols on the outsides of his forarms? WHERE did those kneepads come from (Rob Leifeld I'm looking at you) and Since when has Optimus had a tommygun? And what's up with the colors? Is it just me or does it look like they muted the hell out of them?

P.S. if anyone really wants this Optimus, PM me and we can work something out. I don't think I want a single part from him.
till all are one.

I agree with everything you said, jimsloth.
Although I do enjoy Prime's colors.. it gives the figure an aged look.
But he does look retarded - those eyes..???
I am highly dissappointed in this figure.
The kneepads are horrendous.. Prime's traditional lower-leg air vents are on the inner legs.. and everything jimsloth said!!!

THOSE EYES???

Megatron is a fun figure. Love his feet - the design of it is so cool looking. haha.. An elbow would be nice, too.
He would look great as Bludgeon as well.

And that's my two pennies..

those eyes..

P.S. Has anyone else said "jimsloth" out loud?
It's quite enjoyable..!

hahaha sometimes when I type it I accidentally type jismloth. I have no idea what loth is, but it still makes me laugh.

Oh, and I too noticed the air vents. Also, the part thats normally on his knee is now where the air vents should be. Really, what the hell were they thinking?

and I guess if I was trying to sell/trade the figure, I probably should have waited to ridicule it, but.. oh well.
till all are one.

If anything, Prime is a good base for kitbashing.

Cheaper than Robot Masters Convoy at least. :P
