You know, i maybe the only one who thinks this, but its weird to me to have Shockwave become a cyclops. Not because its not the most fitting mythological creature for him, but because of how similiar it is to his robot mode anyways... I guess i'm just wondering why he would ever transform into his alternate mode, cause i cant see any advantages it would give him. I guess the same would go for the character who turns into a Minotaur, i think it was Ironhide, or Ravage turning into Anubis... or really any transformer (most of whom are already humanoids) to change into a different looking humanoid.

Don't get me wrong though, i'm certainly not bashing the artwork and designs for them, which is utterly amazing. I've enjoyed it as much as everything else on this site

Now if Shockwave turned into a Balista (a giant crossbow used for seige warfare), i could see the advantages of that. Its not exactly mythological, but it would fit in with the Dark Ages portion, AND be pretty remiscient of his Cybertronian alt. mode. Just an idea.

In BW beast modes were to protect them from the raw energon that was all over the place. Check out the Shockwave oneshot to get an idea of what I mean. The Dinobots basically use the same thing at the end. It tells you why it works that way.

true but in the case of myth wars, the massive energon concentration is no longer a problem due to the alien moon exploding and wiping out most of the energon deposits

grimlock states my point perfectly

and even if all the energon was still there, why would turning into a war machine be all that different from turning into a beast? All the materials are organic OR native (iron) to that Earth anyways, and would hence, still leave Shockwave invulenerable to the effects of energon, albeit immobile... maybe.

Answer to first question. Alternate reality. Metalsamamon's version is different from Shinmusashi's. It's not a sequel to BW.

Secondly, organic material is what protects them from the energon radiation. It has nothing to do with minerals or other things native to the planet. Apparently the radiation can't penitrate it.

look, i watched the entire series of BW not two months ago, i know how the beast thing works. But a Balista is made out of wood, which if i'm not mistaken is organic. I think it could work. Not that any one needs to agree with me or anything.

but on that same note shockwave was able to devise energon dampners to protect metallic body so the same could have been done with time in beast wars but i believe this topic has gotten derailed somewhat

In MetalSamamon's Myth Wars, Dinobot returns to pre-Earth as Dinobus Prime. His alt-mode is a creature from Japanese folklore, a tengu - a humanoid bird.

The pencils are done - it's pretty much finished.
Now I just got to get inking..

Woo. Inking..

C&C welcome.

Well; as I'm so prone to do....I didn't wait for Billy to finish inking in the drawing.

Instead; I went ahead and colored it in as is!

As Billy stated; in MetalSamamon's Myth Wars, Dinobot is reborn on prehistoric Earth as Dinobus Prime. His alt-mode is a creature from Japanese folklore, a tengu - a humanoid bird.

Here it is; DINOBUS PRIME!!

Artwork: BillyBadAss

Colors: MetalSamamon

Backdrop, touch-ups and final rendering: Wing Zero (from the TFD boards).

Whoa, awesome work all around guys! And the color scheme really helped bring out the Dinbot spirit you were going for, MetalSamamon! :)

Now, I'm interested in the beast mode now...

Wow. Very cool stuff..!!

MS - You've outdone yourself this time!!
Your skills are steadily improving!

I haven't thought about the colorscheme for Dinobus - This came out really good!
The two-toned striped design works well.
It proves the point that dinosaurs and birds are very much related..!

And "Thank You" to Wing Zero for the background..!
It completes the drawing. Thanks!!

Thanks again, everyone.

As for the Tengu-mode.. Ehh - we'll see..
Heheh..

Add four more designs to the roster, Samamon!

Starcrush, maximal, beast mode is Unicorn, one of the four mythological horses cycle:

This one has no name yet, she's a predacon, a sea monster resembling the mythological Scylla is her beast mode.

Tidalcon, predacon, beast mode is sea horse (Based on Sea Horse Byan from Saint Seiya), she's the fourth of the mythological horses cycle, the other three are Skyboom (Pegasus), Dreadnought (Nightmare) and Starcrush (Unicorn)

I know I've been absent for a long time, but my old scanner died and I got a new one on december, and I got back the notebook where I had these four designs that I lent to a friend some months ago.

Sorry let me introduce myself. I've been browsing this site for the longest. Had an account already but never posted since my computer busted up. Although a fan myself ( have about 300 of the G1's from 1984 ) I'm mostly here as well for my son, who's 7 now. I'm always doing drawings and sketches for my son as well. Been drawing since I was a wee lad although I mostly do airbrushing. I told my son how this is a wonderful site to learn more about Transformers as well as informative people. Right now I'm using the firms computer to log in ( hoping I don't get busted. Only one I have to do so ). Just wanted to say how great the artwork is here. Wish I had equipment to scan but at what I earn and with the way the economy is going in America is not easy for me. Anyway a little of me and thanks everybody for sharing such wonder ful pics.

Wow, I just stumbled onto this thread. I love it! This is quite in keeping with my HMW team concept, the Loremasters.

I guess my favorites so far would be the winged lion/ Rodiumus and the cyclopes/shockwave. That shockwave is so wrong for so many reasons. :)
