Those 'con captures are making me happy...perhapse a little too happy? I wasn't quite able to keep up with the barriage of images on the new trailer, however many times I watched it, so this helps.

Me neither. I'm paralyzed, obssessing on the point they all look like classic gaming bosses... the kinds where they're just a head connected to a neck made out of disconnected balls.
And that any one transformer looks like another.

As insignificant as it is overall, I am nonetheless very pleased that they did end up changing things to be 'faction accurate' as it were.

Just as God intended.
By the time TF2 comes out, GM will be under, so they might just give Jazz the justice that he deserves!
And Megatron looks downright evil, like, perhaps, an "...ever-spinning Engine of Death"? lol
Sorry. I had to.

Let's just hope that retractable "sword arm" for Prime is not just a myth also!

Wait a minute ... a trivial detail? Everything we've been bitching about with the movie has been a "trivial detail". Somebody went out of their way to make this change and after all of the bitching and complaining that the fans have done, I think it's important that we left the movie folks know that we noticed this and appreciate this. Anyone who has a "meh" attitude about changes like this is part of the problem with why so many things have been changed. Each and every little thing adds up.

what I mean is I don't notice anything different. I thought they had the correct coloured optics in the first place. that is why it was sort of obvious. anyway the changes I was gunnig for didn't occure anyway.

Okay, that sounded a touch harsh. As far as I'm concerned, the colour of the optics indicating a specific faction is a nice touch, nothing more. I don't see how that makes me part of a problem with anything, to be honest. Maybe I should have written, "It's just a trivial matter to me." If I should have typed that, then I apologise for not doing so.

Then again, I have brown eyes and my sister has green, so to each their own in the long run.
I guess these guys didn't see it that way, but it's not a big deal.

it is a little harsh. especially since I was for better helms and bodies on both megs and starscream. optics, although nice to be faciton specific, were not a huge detail for me. Starscream's appeared with red, orangish, yellow, green, whitish and in animaiton errors blue. I sort of grew used to those differences. I was gunnig for the major details. Oh well.... I guess I am one of the badguys for saying it I didn't notice they were ever different.

Trivial matter to you might have been better, Leonardo. I didn't mean my post to sound like an attack. I guess I'm just thrilled that something on my long list of "trivial" things was addressed. To me, it's not trivial. As a fan, I'd be a lot happier with a lot of the changes if a lot of these "trivial" issues had been addressed rather than ignored. The small details add up significantly. I kind of wanted to make a big deal out of this to say thanks to whoever made this change. Trivial or not, after all of the bitching and complaining us fans have done I think it's important to let the movie folks see something positive when they do something right in honor of the fans this late in the game.
Sunstar, I don't think you'll ever see G1 Starscream's eyes as green or yellow in the cartoon. I'm someone who's screen captured every G1 episode that Starscream has been in ... his eyes are always red or maybe on the odd occassion blue.

Okay, that's fair enough. I definitely think it's a positive addition in the sense that little details do help to transform something good into something great. I also agree that we should be commending the producers/director/studio on adding touches that will make the fans happy. I wasn't trying to detract from that, or suggest that people shouldn't be happy about the change. Not at all. Should we just move on? I'll be more careful with my wording in future.

I never did state G1 in my comment. I was encompassing all various forms of Starscream. comic, armada, energon etc. I was being open minded in that regards.
Edit: forgive my typos, I am beyond exausted and unable to shut down... that was nearly a bad typo there....

I missed them doing this in the other toons like Armada,Energon and Cybertron

... I mean, this is Hollywood, imagine if they had no precedence from former TF series for the eye colour thing, is it so hard to imagine that the film-makers would put red eyes on bad guys and blue eyes on the good guys.
I think something like that isn't Transformers-specific as much as it is just a general thing people tend to do to discern good creatures from bad.
Still fun to see though, don't get me wrong.

Scary forests with red, yellow or green eyes were often considered scary... not htat there were yellow or green in the movie.
Red is an ominious glow. red is blood. blood is bad if its showing... Red is symbolic to war, to blood thirsty nature. Someone sees red when they are angry. Red is considered an agressive colour. Blue is consided a peaceful colour.
You paint a room blue if you want cool and peace. paint a room red if you want activitiy and action. that's why its typically unwise to paint a bedroom red... mind you red is also a passionate colour too. But it is very often associated with agression.
Although admittedly blue can be sinister as well, I think any colour on its own can be. red has the power behind it which is probably why it was chosen as evil. Perhaps in part because G1 tradionally had red optics but I think also because red is often symbolic of bad things.

my pigeon has redish orange eyes and I tell oyu he is really fragging evil.... its a cliche evil characteristic steriotypical. if I want a sinister mood... I use red. I describe red light... I use red thigns.

Sentinel Maximus wrote:I'd much rather have the good ol' autobot & decepticon faction symbol.
I think that has something to do with the story. Earth will probably notice it (like in Bumblebee's steering wheel) and then make one for the autobots, like "those with this symbol are hereby declared friends". Seeing as how Barricade is one with a noticeable one, they would create one like that and say "he who bears this purple thing is one who bears deception". Remember that they changed from protoforms to earth forms. Would be cool lol...
By the way, when Bonecrusher tackled Prime his eye's weren't as red as when he tackled the bus. I like what I did to him now:

sorry, but i just can't get excited about a non-issue like eye color, nor do i feel like patting the movie makers on the back for something this insignificant after all the things they've gotten so drastically wrong. obviously, anything done right is a good thing, but even under the best circumstances (which we're pretty damn far from) the most praise i could offer for something like this would be "ok, that's nice i suppose." i mean, seriously, so what? of all the things i could list that i cared about them getting right when this movie was announced, this is right near the bottom of the list. hell, i didn't even give a second's thought to their eye colors until i saw this thread. honestly, i find it somewhat annoying the way they seem to be genericizing (yeah, i just coined a new word) everything that matters about the movie, (ie the script and the robots' personalities and designs), then trying to win back fans by conceding some minor issue like this. no, it's not them "staying true to the roots" or anything of the sort, it's a blatant attempt at appeasement in its most demeaning form. sure, it's nice to know that cullen is playing prime again, and i suppose if i cared at all about eye color this would be a nice little touch, but those few little tidbits and some cool special effects (which, to me at least, get old fast without a decent story to back them up) are hardly enough to make up for the many shortcomings i see already firmly established in this movie.
in the future, movie makers, please focus on getting the big things right before you start worrying about the little (and in this case virtually microscopic) ones.

Even in G1, look at Shockwave, his head is nothing but a giant eye ball and oh look it's yellow.
I have no idea where this idea started from but it's never been true and it doesn't matter what color their eyes are. If they realy wanna fix something with the way they look take away the bug looking characters.
