Do you have this incoming figure on your preorder list? He's due out in Japan this Saturday, so he should start showing up at U.S. importers the first few weeks of August.

This is a redeco of the previously released MP-44 Optimus Prime figure, that was G1 Sunbow accurate. MP-49 doesn't come with the trailer the previous release had.

I bet there will be a revised version of MP-44 sooner or later.
Regardless, I'm quite tempted by this Nemesis.
BUUUUUUT, the thing will still be 250/300$CAN shipped. So, nope.

The number of extras with these things might be nice for some... however I would prefer to have the basic figure with a limited number of accessories for a reduced price. This guy is still too pricey, maybe they might release the standard prime again in the same manner as this. Or will save up 1k for the next mp prime.
He might be referring to a tabbing issue when you change it from truck to robot. On mine, one of the knees was extremely difficult to tab. So much so that I was afraid I'd break it. The funny thing is, the figure is much more durable than you'd think despite the fidgity transformation. It did eventually peg in, but I can see where they'd want to adjust it.

I have also planned to get mp-21, but my friend had his arm joint snap off, so I am slightly worried about that. Is there any problems with mp-45 I should know before I get him?
I don't have MP-45, but I do have MP-21. I don't know how your buddy broke his arm, but it's not exactly delicate. I'd wager MP-45 is just as sturdy.

But, like I said, I have heard bad reviews, and while I get the backpack may be bad, I don't really mind it. But, at the same time, I really wanna get mp-21

Usually if there is a widespread QC problem in a toy, video reviews that are all over YouTube will point them out.

Congrats and be careful. That's one deep rabbit hole you're diving into.
A word of advise though. Avoid buying MPs from eBay. Especially those who come from China. It's Knock Off Central over there.

Smart moove. MP-45 Bee is an overengineered and overpriced mess. MP-21 is way better all over, it's only "flaw" being not toon accurate.

Indeed. I'd foresee him being akin to Beast Wars Megatron's Bot Mode backpack, but on a far larger scale.

AllNewSuperRobot wrote:On the subject of G1 2.0 releases, I was thinking the other day about Rodimus Prime. I'd like to think some day, we'll get a straight up, gimmick free Rodimus. No "inner Hot Rod", just the future Autobot Leader given his due. However, if they are making them more "show accurate", in style and not just aesthetic. Much as they did with Megatron MP-5 to MP-36. When it comes to Rodimus, that could be... problematic.
Yet, there's at least one Episode where he transforms like Optimus and there is an 'inner' Hotrod, I thought.
Either way, I prefer the former.

Well, it is going to take some doing to get these proportions of Bot to Vehicle Mode.

I think something must've happened during the design processes that Blaster had to be pushed back. Ditto on Jazz, Trailbreaker, Galvatron, and all the other characters we're missing and think would be shoo-ins.

At least he could have come with Marvel Comics mis-"colored" blue Ravage / aka Howlback or something. Or Donny Finkelberg. Or Charlene. Something. Anything. Happy to complete these guys. Just so many other more prominent characters I'd rather see before Skids. Poor guy.

Though, thinking about this further, you get a few easy repaints/remolds out of this mold. Crosscut, G1 cartoon Skids, toy Skids, Diaclone Skids, etc. It'll be interesting to see how they milk this mold. But still would have rather seen other highly desirable characters like Jazz or Galvatron get a Masterpiece before Skids.

Either way, Honda, being a Japanese company, is probably just fine with licensing the City subcompact car to use for Skids. That also brings up another question... with Skids' altmode being as small or smaller than a VW Beetle, I'll be really interested to see how they get a Datsun bro sized robot mode out of that.

Bounti76 wrote:Sure, Jazz would be a more logical choice, but has Porsche given Takara a license to use his car mode? That's probably why we haven't gotten an MP Jazz or Cliffjumper. Or maybe some other company has the license, which is why we got a modified Ferrari altmode for SS Dino.
Porsche has always been a pain in the exhaust port, next to Volkswagen. The latter did loosen up for Bumblebee's popularity, but only for him, not for any of his redeco offspring like Glyph and Bug Bite.
Ferrari's exclusive toy license was held first by Mattel for Hot Wheels, and now by the Hong Kong-based Maisto. That license has so far only been used for die-cast model cars, so I guess nothing beyond that is in the cards. The supplier of the license makes the conditions.

I think Volkswagon owns Porsche or vice versa. My Dad had a Porsche back in the day that had a Volkswagon engine.

The Volkswagen Group or Volkswagen AG owns:
- Volkswagen (brand)
- Audi
- Bentley
- Bugatti
- Ducatti
- Jetta
- Porsche
- SEAT
- Škoda
Of those, only Volkswagen, Audi and Bugatti were featured in the movies, and Bugatti as toys for Drift.

I wonder if it's the parent holding the subsidiaries back, or the subsidiaries' own objections.

Unlicensed. I don't see the Porsche logo anywhere on images and video of the packaging, nor do I see copyright info of the company.

It's just different enough. Remember, the original G1 Jazz was based on a slot car design that was already a little different from the real world Porsche.

It's even funnier when you think that Thew willed him into existence.
And downright kneeslap LOL comedy: we got a Movie Jazz AND a Skids before we get a G1 Jazz.
