Well, he hasn't even been officially revealed, but yet, we have a treat for you today. Thanks to an Ebay auction, two Seibertronians have gotten their hands on the upcoming Generations Selects GS-11 Exhaust figure! Regular reviewer Chuckdawg1999 is up first, with a video review that shows off the figure nicely, and has some good comparison shots with Exhaust's perennial mold-mate, Wheeljack.

The other Seibertronian to get this figure was yours truly. Delivered just yesterday, my Exhaust came packed in the traditional cardboard box that all Selects releases come in. I've included several pictures showing off his deco and compared to Wheeljack, he Exhaust comes off looking a little.... spare. He's got a nice bright white plastic, compared to Wheeljack's off-white, with red being his other major color. But besides that, he has far fewer tampographs. Given the legal issues surrounding the release of Masterpiece Exhaust five years ago, it's understandable that Hasbro would want to avoid hewing to closely to that deco.

There are three tampographs that are of particular interest. These appear on his spoiler and on his legs/car mode sides. His name is spelled out, or rather misspelled as "Exhuast".

Given that this figure hasn't been officially announced, it's possible that this mistake might be corrected before then. Also, above, in the second photo, you can see Japanese katakana on his leg. As I can't read Japanese, perhaps someone with more knowledge than me can translate?

And last, but not least, a size comparison shot with a large Siege Deluxe, Ratchet, and Exhaust's fellow Selects figure, Lancer.

I know they couldn't reproduce Marlboro's logo on the front side of the car - both for trademark and "smoking-brand-on-a-toy" issues - yet I was hoping for a bit more "triangular" red, just like the Masterpiece.

In robot mode, I think he ends up looking a little less spare than Wheeljack.
I really hope they change the glazing to blue for the official release.

This came to me in an official Selects box. I think this is likely the final deco, spelling mistakes and all. I agree with you though. Blue windows would have gone a long way to making this figure great.

Nothing special: de-i-se-pu-te-i-ko-n, or Decepticon :P

Interesting in that it's literally "Decepticon" and not "Destron," as one might think they'd put on there. But I'm definitely getting this guy, and definitely replacing the robot wings with something bigger, and bluer (unless, as many have suggested, they add some blue to him).

I bet it's Hasbro being cheeky, it works out as Generations in Japan uses the US names anyway.

I think the "Exhuast" misspellings might be deliberate, like an homage to the old Diaclone misspellings like "Marlboor" and "Citanes".

I love the idea of Exhaust as a character, but I feel he needs a more unique deco, as both him and wheeljack are both mainly white robots with black and red as secondary colors.
Maybe have Wheeljack rely more on green for the headlights, with a black windscreen and grey thighs/forearms, with stark white as the main color, while Exhaust uses red highlights, blue windscreen and black thighs/forearms with a yellowed white to imply a smoke damaged white paint.

As much as I've come to love and appreciate the Wheeljack mold, and as stoked as I am about Exhaust, I don't think I can justify double-dipping on this guy. Vehicle mode looks great but 'bot mode is lacking for me; even painting his wings blue would've sold it.

Then again, Nonnef Prod. is restocking their Exhaust set in July... :-?

To be fair, both characters were based on mostly white vehicles with differing sponsor logos, and Exhaust hasn't had much of a presence up until a few years ago. But I like your idea!

And since you mention it, I wouldn't be surprised if they release a Wheeljack in Selects with gray forearms/thighs/head as an "animation model" version.

I'm not sure they'd do that, since Selects largely seems to be focused more on new characters rather than same-character redecors, but also because Earthrise Wheeljack is already kinda designed to be a mix between toy and cartoon (more toy in vehicle mode with the more properly-detailed livery, more cartoon in robot mode with the sparser colors and the specific amounts/shapes of red and green on the chest and legs).

Wheeljack's sparser colors in robot mode are one of the biggest faults in the diminished distinction there. That and Exhaust not having his customary blue glazing. Although even with those amended they'd still look similar... which is undoubtedly a big part of why Exhaust is SELECTS and not retail.

I like how Exhaust came out even with the wrong glazing color. I think I'll probably get him when I have the money. Sticking to the original Generations toy for Wheeljack.

I have not picked up ER Wheeljack because he just doesn't feel like the figure I want for my first ever Wheeljack toy! That's likely why I'm kinda low key digging Exhuast so much, even if he does recycle the shoulder pod thing. I guess this is likely also why I opted for Hotshot over Hound (nostalgia played a part too, Cybertron/Galaxy Force was a big part of my childhood) and frankly he wears the mold a bit better too

I could not disagree with you more on Hot Shot. I think he wears the mold worse because of little he resembles his show self aside from the head and colors.

Why wouldn't just be considered another body-form upgrade of his? It's not like the guy kept the same body consistently across the Unicron Trilogy. ;)

1. Because it's a downgrade compared to his proper Cybertron Defense body
2. There's no reason for him to change to it

Related aside: in my personal canon, Cybertron is a parallel-universe sequel to Energon. :-P Aaron Archer tried his hardest to wallpaper and shoehorn it into being a direct one (like it was supposed to be), but the stupid amanojakus on the Japanese writing team broke that thread too hard :BANG_HEAD: .

Eh, it may not be show-accurate, but it definitely looks really nice. Hot Shot's color scheme just looks good on that mold.

Just gotta say that Exhaust has always had what is probably the contender for the coolest head design in the franchise and maybe robot designs period, it's amazing on how such a nobody character has something so iconic.

I have Hotshot in hand and his colors and new head really do make the mold his own, like who cares if it doesn't look exactly like a previous body, it's more likely a G1 version of the character anyways.

First up though, some shots of my alternate Overbite, who will remain with Battle Core Prime as a partner in crime

Greetings Seibertronians! Following on from the reveal of Generations Selects Exhaust and Greasepit last week, we've now got a video review of Greasepit, who is a redeco (with slight retooling) of Earthrise Deluxe Class Ironworks.

The review is done by YouTuber, TFA1024 The Transformers Addict. We've embedded the review below for your convenience.

Please check here for a video review of Greasepit's fellow Selects toy, Exhaust!

Are you going to be pouncing on Greasepit when he's available? Planning to add him to your ever growing Transformers city scape? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

What I don't understand is why Greasepit and Exhaust are not available on Pulse. Neither is mentioned as any kind of exclusive. Usually new Selects are available to pre-order from Pulse but usually show up at retailers first. However neither one is listed and I reached out to them on Facebook and chat to find out the status. Neither option was very helpful. If I don't see them soon I will end up buying them secondhand at a markup. If this is an indication of future releases then I could end up missing out on figures and paying almost $15 each like they have been going on Ebay.

The rep from Pulse said they don't carry every Transformers product and don't have all the information on what they do but the Selects line is MEANT to be a major part of pulse for Hasbro.

I initially had little interest in the new Seacons. I'm not a fan of the combiner gimmick in general, and I wasn't sure the $35 price-tag for Deluxes on HasbroPulse was justified. That said, when people started getting 'em in-hand and posting pictures online, I had regrets about passing on a couple of the figures. Then, for a brief second in May, Pulse re-posted Overbite And Tentakil as in-stock, so I pulled the trigger. (Good thing, too, since God Neptune would have been an even bigger investment).

What a stroke of luck...

Tentakil totally redeems the horrid POTPie fem-bot engineering model, and all his new parts make me fully appreciate the mark-up on the Takara Selects. As much as I dig him, I have to say Overbite is the most fun Transformers figure I've gotten this year. Considering how much I've enjoyed the WFC stuff (and having acquired a couple of "Titans" grails), that's saying a lot. The head-sculpt is perfect, the weapons are fun and store nicely on his land-shark mode, and my gawd, the COLOURS!!! Both of these guys hit my nostalgia button in such a weirdly precise spot.

...Not because I had any kind of childhood attachment to the Seacons, but because they're dressed like "Saved by the Bell" characters :x  :-P

Because the two haven't been officially revealed yet?

We are not even meant to know about their existence, same with the other "rumored" figures like Hubcap, The Coneheads, etc

Megalopolis.toys currently lists both of them as in-stock for $21.99 each. I was going to wait until Pulse had them so I could avoid the shipping fees, but in light of the Hasbro rep playing dumb, I've decided to eat the shipping and avoid the wait.
Re: Transformers Generations Selects Exhaust Video Review and In-Hand Pictures (2070055)

I suppose $21.99 is only a couple of dollars higher then what they will be on Pulse. Though I don't understand the mad rush to buy them now? They'll likely be plenty of them once Hasbro reveal them properly and sell them via the normality channels.
Re: Transformers Generations Selects Exhaust Video Review and In-Hand Pictures (2070056)
Posted by figureguy on July 2nd, 2020 @ 11:46am CDT
That is my point exactly. If they were an eBay leak which I see goes for $36 then why does toy dojo and the chosen Prime both have them in stock for $25? That seems to be their normal markup on selects releas. You can see for $21.95 which is $2 about the normal price on pulse but you do have to pay shipping. When you factor in all of these parts it seems very strange that they're not listed on pulse yet.

If they're being tied into a convention (which since last year, I believe most conventions hasbro attends has had at least a selects exclusive - many times completely bypassing the pre-order phase) then they won't be up for sale until around the time of said convention; if another retailer has gotten their stock of them for that occasion and chosen to sell them early, then that's on them; but the other poster's above are correct, we are not meant to know about these yet, and I'd bet the retailers selling them now probably aren't meant to be doing so.

Considering the fact that these figures are this widespread, I'd say they'll announce them just so they can have them be officially released. I mean, I could see it being a Tweet, rather than a whole "Fan First Friday", but still, at this point they can't play dumb

I understand the logic in some of the comments. But on the outside looking in, it does seem odd. If "all things were normal" meaning conventions would be going on, it makes little sense to announce 2 Selects figures on Pulse last week, that go immediately up for pre-order and scheduled to arrive in 3 months, then in a couple of weeks reveal two more selects figures that are available "now" (for convention attendees or on select websites).

I mean after seeing Greasepit & Exhaust on eBay I kept second guessing myself thinking I missed a pre-order somewhere....

Time for some armchair Transformers predictions!

First, I'm happy to see Tigertrack revealed for a Selects release. The Sideswipe mold from Siege is solid. The robot mode is arguably perfect. The alt mode looks close enough to a real Earth-based vehicle, the classic Lamborghini Countach. With Tigertrack revealed, I think it's a safe bet that we will not be getting an "Earthrise" version of Sideswipe. The Siege version is it. Hasbro and Takara are likely going to give us all of the classic G1 repaints based on only this mold. By my count, we only have Deep Cover and Clampdown to go, since we already have Red Alert, G2 Sideswipe, and now Tigertrack. I know some people were hoping for a more spot-on rendition of Sideswipe's Countach mode, at least as close as Earthrise Sunstreaker will get, but I don't think it's likely at this point. I also tested just how well Siege Sideswipe passes for a real Lamborghini Countach in vehicle mode by showing some friends who aren't Transformers fans or gearheads, and each one within a second was able to tell me "Lamborghini" when asked "what kind of car is this?" I bet Hasbro and Takara are satisfied that Siege Sideswipe passes this "casual test" too.

Yeah. The main things that set SIEGE Sideswipe's car mode apart from a Countach? Are the funky tail lights and having different - but decidedly still Earthly - wheels and tires. Wheels that look an awful lot like the wheel on MP Sideswipe's Collector Coin.

Am I the only one hoping HasTak will release the other G2 Sideswipe clone on this mold? The blue car with chartreuse robot parts?

That would be cool. I kinda hope they do that unreleased G2 Sideswipe deco too, the yellow car that fades to teal near the back with orange sunset graphics.

figureguy wrote:What I don't understand is why Greasepit and Exhaust are not available on Pulse.

Because the two haven't been officially revealed yet?

We are not even meant to know about their existence, same with the other "rumored" figures like Hubcap, The Coneheads, etc

Deadput is correct, these figures were leaked via the eBay auctions last week, with some rumours have them being officially revealed during SDCC Online.

Megalopolis.toys currently lists both of them as in-stock for $21.99 each. I was going to wait until Pulse had them so I could avoid the shipping fees, but in light of the Hasbro rep playing dumb, I've decided to eat the shipping and avoid the wait.

I broke down and bought them both. I was fighting the urge ever since you posted this. I finally broke when I saw I could pay with Klarna which is one of those split-the-payment plans so I can pay it off over 4 paychecks. I've previously used Sezzle and Afterpay at other merchants. This also keeps me from buying Masterpiece Exhaust, he's been in my eBay shopping cart for a bit but after breaking and ordering another SG Optimus I do not want any more Masterpiece figures. Too expensive to replace.
