Thanks to the hard work of fellow Seibertron user, Chuckdawg1999, we've now got his review of Transformers Power of the Primes Novastar to share.

He has this to say in summary about her.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Novastar is a fun figure and a great repaint with a new head of Moonracer. If you're a fan of the mold it's worth the double dip but there's not much new here to recommend to someone who's on the fence about the mold or character.

Novastar is the only new toy within the fourth and final deluxe wave of Transformers Power of the Primes, as Hasbro gears up for the forthcoming War for Cybertron: Siege line. Novastar is a redeco of Wave 2's Moonracer.

We have already had sightings in Walmarts across the USA so happy hunting if you're looking for her!

Does this review make it more likely you'll get her? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews.

The Brickseek website seems to have spotty accuracy. It had the O'Fallon IL Walmart with 17 Deluxes in stock, but I went and only found a lone Jazz(which I already have) in that category. -_-

Everytime I see this fig, more and more photoshoots come to mind. I love it!

Wolfman Jake wrote:Also, TF-fan kev777, I can see in your picture that you too get that weird "two toned knee" effect, but your dark and light sides seemed to be switched from mine. I wonder if it's a factory level mix up. There might be two similar shades or red that were mapped to the figure for different details, but depending on what was going on when a particular figure was being assembled, the tones might have gotten mixed up here and there, resulting in some inconsistencies like the knees. Or they ran out of a certain red color paint at some point and used something similar but not quite the same to finish off the production run.

Since it is red paint on grey plastic, I wonder if it could be the same shade on both parts, but slightly thinner on the one that appears darker because some of the grey is coming through.

I'll probably get Novastar, just because this mold becomes one of the best gestalt arms of all the deluxes.

My plan is for Moonracer to be an arm, Novastar to be a leg, Jazz to be an arm, and Wreck-Gar to be a leg. Depending on my mood, I might swap Jazz and Wreck-Gar. I don't own the mold of Wreck-Gar in any form, so I want to see which one works best.

IF you can secure the port between the tabs on the inside of the knees. Easily overlooked if you ask me.

On the side, who makes a better evil double? Nemesis or Unicronus? I can see the appeal of the Black Rod, but if I can avoid double dipping I will.
Re: Video Review of Transformers Power of the Primes Novastar (1979828)
Posted by ZeldaTheSwordsman on August 22nd, 2018 @ 4:19am CDT
Hmm. Hard to say. Rodimus Unicronus has the innate appeal of the Rodebago. But Nemesis Prime (being a special exclusive) comes with a lot of nice extra toys, and his cab robot has a menacing Nemesis Prime head instead of just an evil recolor of Orion's dorky dock worker mug (not that I dislike Orion Pax, tbh he's my main reason for even wanting PotP Optimus Prime at all).

Rodimus Prime wrote:I tried again, and sure enough I had one of the pegs on each forearm in the wrong spot once I folded the arms into the sides. I fixed it and that made the torso surprisingly stable. So thank you for that. I don't know how I missed it.
You're welcome. And I did note that some of the slots on Grimlock's arms can lead you astray.

Rodimus Prime wrote:Maybe because I was biased against Volcanicus from the start. They should have been done like Predaking was, all 5 Dinos Voyager sized.
Eh, I disagree. Yes, having all five as Voyagers would be nice for their scaling as individuals. But even as Deluxes, Slag, Sludge, Snarl, and Swoop still gain some robot-mode height on their original toys so I think they came out ahead anyway. And I personally prefer having a Supreme-size combined form since most of the modern combiners are Supreme size.
Beyond that, there would be some practical issues with doing them all as Voyagers in the same Generations subline. To begin with, given the design strictures of PotP they'd have to be done as a Titan-class boxset like Predaking to all be Voyagers (and likely be subjected to the same compromises as the CW Constructicons and PotP Predacons). Even without that stricture, doing all 5 in the same subline would hog a lot of slots. And either case would be more of a financial pain than a single Voyager and four Deluxes.

Rodimus Prime wrote:Besides, I still don't like how Volcanicus looks, his shoulders are too wide and his waist is too small. The Dinobots look better with Sky Lynx.
To each their own. Personally, I think the "brute" look of it works for them. And he doesn't have the "empty" look to me that, say, the G1 Bruticus toy (and its redecoes) has without the chestplate.

I think my thoughts on Volcanius aligns with yours Zelda, if anything I wish Predaking was actually four deluxes and a voyager to match. Though I think that Razorclaw should have also been a leader class if they had to be voyager or bigger...but c'est la vie.

ugggh!

and one might assume,
that when one bonds with the Matrix,
one retains ones coooration.

If that's how you want to see Throne of the Primes more power to you :) I've come with a storyline where Primal is just watching over the throne, with the crown and sceptre, waiting for the Thirteen bots to come forward to claim their destiny, as the new Thirteen Primes ;) In this story line he would ultimately give his life to protect the new fledging primes as he is a mentor...and we all know what happens to mentors (at least traditionally...isn't that right Obi Wan ;))

Well, if it's any consolation, the G1 Predacon toys may be bricks but they and their combined form look to scale fairly well with modern figures, since they were designed independently of the free-combining system originally developed for Diaclone (and thus could take advantage of the movie-onward scale jump instead of having to be midgets).

Even if you miss it, there's always the Takara version. And really, the HTS price ends up being similar to the BBTS price when you factor in shipping and tax, so the only difference between ordering from these places is when you actually get it.

I am obtaining this in hopes to trade for another item 2017's Primitive Optimus. If anyone is interested, please PM me. Thank You so much.

Also, for future referrence, it seems around 9am PDT/12pm EDT is when exclusives seem to be available.

And........ Confirmation email received.

Still won't believe it's real until a ship notification comes in.

What a bunch of Bozos over there at the Toy Shop! :o)

EDIT: They claim the estimated ship date is today. Yeah. We'll see about that.

The Throne of the Primes is still available as of my posting this reply. If you really want it, don't let spite get in the way of saving you some money and getting your figure sooner. Hasbro Toy Shop is not going to be stuck with unsold Thrones out of fan protest. If you don't buy it, someone else will, until they are gone.

Getting it earlier, sure.
Getting it cheaper, no.

Sure, 10$ cheaper on Amazon japan is not the biggest discount, but thats still the price of deluxe figure for me, so every bit counts.

^That is exactly what happened to me last time. if you didn't get the "Thank you for your order" screen, and then follow up e-mail it didn't go through. Even with an order number and my paypal charged last time it did not go through, after a week and a series of back and forth emails and calls to HTS customer service, my order was ultimately cancelled, and the charges reversed on Paypal.

However if you call HTS, they should be able place the order manually, but you'll have to do it by credit card, they cant do paypal over the phone.

I doublechecked with them after that point, and they did show the order as processed and they resent the confirmation email, so it looks like I have a Throne on the way. All Prime Masters acquired! And doubles from the Amazon exclusives means I am just short one more Prime Master to put in the Scepter. Seems kinda poopy they didn't make one more extra just for it to be complete while leaving the Wheel of Fortune Primes with one of every Prime Master.

There are enough unique Prime Master releases to fill all of the available slots, actually. The wheel only has 12 slots, not 13. The scepter has 4 slots. That's 16 slots total. The wheel can house the "normal" versions of all 12 Primes. The scepter can hold the "13th Prime" as well as the Special Edition clear plastic versions of Megatronus (from Blast Off), Solus Prime (from Repugnus), and Prima Prime (from Punch/Counterpunch).

I wouldn't mind having the special Prime Master figures that come with the Throne exclusive - but not enough to buy the figure itself. Pass.

Isn't there a slot to plug the 13th prime master and the center of the wheel? If not it's kind of fitting that the scepter will have the two primes that were lovers and the first and the last Prime.

I know I said no more HTS, but I figured I'd try again. I got in around 11am and was able to get one. I still have NOT gotten a confirmation email, although I did call and spoke to a Tiffany. She said an email was sent and checked the order number and said that the order was processed and sent to the warehouse. Who knows if I'll get the confirmation email before it ships, lol.. I did use a credit card this time instead of PayPal, which she says does make a difference, as PayPal takes you away from and then back to the site. I used PayPal last time and didn't get one. If you go to TRACK ORDER on the bottom of HTS and input your order number it should show the item. Last time it showed nothing but it did this time. YAY... -_- I'll keep my TT preorder on BBTS until I have it in hand though.

looking good. ;)^

Isn't there a slot to plug the 13th prime master and the center of the wheel? If not it's kind of fitting that the scepter will have the two primes that were lovers and the first and the last Prime.

Nope! The "Wheel of Primes" is attached to the back of the throne. The majority of it is, in fact, obscured by the throne. You can only see the top four or five Prime Masters at any one time, meaning you need to rotate the wheel around like a roulette wheel to see the rest. A slot in the center of the wheel would be pointless, since it would always be hidden by the back of the throne. "The 13th Prime" comes attached to the Scepter of Primes in the box, so that's where Hasbro intends you to put it.

FYI: The Throne of the Primes is now marked as "Sold Out" on Hasbro Toy Shop! Good luck to everyone who gave it a second go at getting this figure!

Works for me! Like I said, it is kind of poetic that it has Megatronus and Solus (the two Lovers) and Prima and 13 (the first and the last Primes). I still would like a crystal version of the 13th Prime, but it isn't the end of the world. I likely won't store any of the Prime Masters in the Wheel very often anyway.

Rodimus Unicronus all the way. He is the better mold overall of the 2, and his colors are much more appealing and his head sculpt rocks so hard

Well it took a while, but I finally got the confirmation email for the Throne of the Primes set. Which means that hopefully I'll be getting it soon. Especially since I really think they used a better color scheme for Primal in the Throne set than the retail version.

Also, it's nice to get those remaining Prime Masters.
